Series of photographs of German "architectural treasures" taken from 1897 to 1903 by architect Hermann Ruckwardt. Baumgartner's published this in 1897, 1902, and 1903. This is the 1903 edition which includes the "latest" photos by Ruckwardt.Table of contents lists the buildings and their architects. Some floor plans are also reproduced. A treasure trove of historic architectural interior and exterior patterns, gilt, buildings, parts, and details. Includes all sorts of villas, bridges, churches (including superb organs), synagogues, palaces, and other buildings throughout Germany and some in Budapest, Copenhagen, and Vienna. The list of plates includes the building/bridge/etc., its location, the particular view (front, bedroom, etc.) and the name of the architect and, in some cases, the year. The plates aslo include this information and the year of the actual photo. Because these photos are pre-World War (both), many of these places either no longer exist or were heavily restored. This is, therefore, a valuable reference for architectural historians, architectural sculptors, clergy, and anyone who simply appreciates beautiful photos of beautiful architecture. Scarce. Only 6 copies exist in Worldcat, and only 3 are this edition. A true find!
