Contents quite good but with some small stains to a few page edges. Former owner's in pencil on ffep (Clara K. Nelson, the Rhode Island artist). Folio and slipcase very solid but with fading. Slipcase has faint white paint speckles and some light white paint on bottom - likely housed on a newly-painted shelf that hadn't yet dried! Item #131062

Consists of seven special numbers of the art magazine Wendingen. Edited and typographically arranged by H. Th. Wijdeveld. Includes articles by famous European architects and American writers such as Lewis Mumford, J.J.P. Oud, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Erich Mendelson, H.P. Berlage, Louis H. Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright himself. This book "was the first major publication of Wright"s work after the 1910-1911 German volumes. It includes illustrations of work done between 1902 and 1923. A small, handwritten gift card is laid in, signed by "Aunt Clara" to her niece/nephew. In the note, she explains that she purchased this book in the 1920s while teaching art at the "university." The artist, Clara K. Nelson was Professor of Drawing and Design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, beginning in the autumn of 1921. Also includes two newspaper clippings regarding F.L.W's architecture (undated) and two pages clipped from a magazine dated February 1964. An excellent reference copy of a rare book.
