In French and English. Exhibition was held 1 July-31 October, 1999, and organized as a formal component of the Olympic Arts Festivals program for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Shows the art of 9 aboriginal peoples in large and lovely photos. From introductory remarks by Djardie Ashley, Wodalpa: "Each clan has a job looking after each part of the country and the people. Consisting of 200 painted hollow log coffins, the Memorial commemorates the thousands of Aboriginal people who lost their lives defending their lands, and those for whom appropriate funeral rites were not possible, symbolically reclaiming the dead and burying them. The Memorial is a testament to the resilience and strength of Aboriginal culture today.
