Brown buckram with gilt lettering on spine; pagination various, totaling apprx. 455, [viii], 1 color lithograph towards the rear and numerous bw illustrations throughout. A large and heavy book that will require extra postage. VG- but ex-library with a few labels and stamps; minimum cover wear. Binding secure but lightly bumped. Item #129082

A large bound set of "the most valuable books and design portfolios," published after the covers of individual publications were damaged. The set eliminates repetition of advertising pages and includes just one set of testimonial and editorial pages. Pages are therefore not sequential (summary of the publisher's explanatory note). Shows fabulous photos and floor plans for very many house designs of the late 1800s. Also includes some row house, multi-family home, and carriage house designs. First page signed by "Julius Franke 1896" (presumably the well-known architect). Plans include designs for "modern" houses, cottages, hotels, colonial designs, popular designs, "favorite" designs, and more. All with narrative descriptions, floor plans, and an external view. A great reference for the architect or anyone planning to design/build a home!
