This is the original edition, not the somewhat smaller reprint from 1996. As Roy Young has astutely said in his description of this book, "Harrie Thomas Lindeberg designed for the rich and famous of the first half of the 20th century -- Astor, DuPont, Morgan, Vanderbilt -- were but a few of his notable clientele. All are named (List of Clients). Lindeberg' s formative years at McKim, Meade & White served him well, and as an assistant to Stanford White he learned the art of the sell. From 1906 to 1914 his partner was Lewis Colt Albro. Cortissoz in his introduction calls him "a definite and original personality which is distinctively American."
