From the introduction: A chronicle of the colonists who, in the years 1610 to 1750, came from England, Scotland and other parts of Europe to make their home in Ireland's Province of Ulster. Many of their descendants in later years moved on to the New World. The migration to the American Colonies began after 1700. The distinctive accent of the newcomers amused the older American colonists who nicknamed them, "The Scotch-Irish." The majority were Presbyterians but their rank included Baptists, Methodists, Huguenots, and Quakers.
