Tipped-in after the title-page is a copy of the "Laws of The New-York Ecclesiological Society, together with a Statement of the Object and Intended Operations of the Society" published in 1848. Within this statement it is put forth that "The Object of the Society shall be to promote the Study of Ecclesiastical Architecture and Antiquities." Uncommon. Charles Wood has stated the following: "One of the most important sources for the study of mid nineteenth century American chuch architecture; for example Phoebe Stanton, in her The Gothic Revival and American church architecture (1968) makes more than 20 references to it. It was published by the New-York Ecclesiological Society, an Episcopal society which met quarterly. The peridoical was, however, issued somewhat erratically."
