This rare volume contains the first 12 issues of William Macbeth's seminal Art Gallery publication "Gallery Notes." These issues began in October 1896 and issue 12 was published in February 1900. The entire series in paginated consecutively, and this initial volume contains pages 1 - 191. The original flimsy flex-leather covers are disintegrated and crumbly. the text and pages are lovely, including the bw photographic illustrations. Gallery Notes is a cornerstone research tool for any turn-of-the-20th century art reference library and issues are seldom offered for sale.
