The four-page Preface is signed and dated Liverpool, Christmas 1879 although the title page is date 1875. Thus, possibly the edition printed by the authors for the subscribers, with deluxe and elaborate printing utilized in all the plates. Liverpool stated as first place of publication, London (Henry Sotheran) listed as second publisher. An important set in quite acceptable condition, especially for reference use. The gilt embossed design on the covers is especially nice.
