Published in conjunction with the exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York from Feb.6 to May 9, 2004. The book explores the works of Italian Futurist painter, sculptor, and writer Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916) in relation to the works of such artists of the Parisian avant-garde as Robert Delaunay, Marcel Duchampt and Pablo Picasso. Essays range from a discussion between Cubism and Futurism to a psychological analysis of the content of Boccioni's pivotal painting, Materia (1912), as well as his relationship to photography.
