Stunning color images by American/Washington, DC artist, Kay Jackson. Most of the works are gold leaf on gessoed wood, some also with tempera. The focus is endangered species in the animal world (zebra, turtle, spotted owl, red crown crane, marvelous spatuletail, and more). Jackson uses, as explained in her brief prefatory essay, an iconographic style of relief called pastiglia and sets the works in ornate frames which only enhance the artistic vision. Includes a list of exhibitions. Absolutely stunning!
