Text in German. Paul and Gabriele Geier were well-known and generous art donors and philanthropists. Paul Geier was with the US Embassy in Rome, where he and Gabriele became good friends with Bernard Berenson, owner of Villa I Tatti, which later became Harvard University's international center for research and scholarship in art history. The villa is renowned for its library, for which many of the funds were donated by the Geiers. "Als Michelangelo sich im Februar 1564 dem Tod nahe fühlte, verbrannte er alle Zeichnungen, derer er habhaft werden konnte.
