"Narrative of a whaling voyage from New London, Connecticut, August 18, 1851, to June 4, 1853." A true travel narrative constructed from an original manuscript evidently completed in 1858 by Nathaniel William Taylor (1823-1875), a medical doctor who had accompanied the whaler into the Indian Ocean. Includes illustrations by William T. Peters, who signed them individually, and who had accompanied Commodore Perry to Japan in the 1850s. One of 900 copies.
