Issued in conjunction with a 1917 auction of these color prints assembled by German-born American photographer Arnold Genthe (1869-1942). The auction consists of 407 lots. A subtitle outlines the offerings as: Notable examples of the important Ukiyoye artists. A page from Harunobu's Maneyemon, Utamaro's Early Print after a Harunobu painting, Shuncho's "Promenade," Hiroshige's "Misty Moonlight," Hokusai's "Return from the Picnic." Pillar prints by Toyonobu, Haruji, Kiyonaga, Koriusai, Masunobu, Yeishin, Triptychs by Utamaro, Toyokuni I., Yeizan. Eighty Surimono in flawless condition, including examples by Shunman, Gakutei, Hokusai, Shinsai. The text is followed by 24 leaves of BW plates, illustrating only some of the lots.
