[Privately published], 1878? Hardcover. Olive cloth with black embossments, 103 pp. VG- (Moderate wear to head and heel of outer spine and edges; interior is clean; presentation signature on tp.). Item #152921
Title on front cover: Notes on Mexico. Thomas W. Price of Philadelphia evidently accompanied Bishop Stephen Mason Merrill and Rev. J. H. Dashiell of the Methodist Episcopal Church, on a trip to Mexico to inspect the missions in early 1878. Price kept a journal, and his entries are printed here. No publication details are included; but it could be assumed that the print run was limited. At the bottom of the title page is printed "Presented to ..... With the Compliments of the Author," with a dotted line for adding the presentee's name. In handwriting that could be the author's is filled in: Mrs. J. G. L. Brown. She could have been the wife of Philadelphia publisher J. G. L. Brown. The plot thickens.
